BOARD MEMBERS & STAFF
HARVEY L. BROWN, JR.
Harvey was born in 1961 in Delray Beach to Harvey and Gayl Brown. He has two sisters, Susan and Anne. Harvey and his wife Marilyn are Delray Beach residents. Harvey is a lifetime member of Unity of Delray Beach and currently serves as a platform speaker and occasional guest speaker. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1983 with a B.A. in marketing. In late 1983, he joined the Harvey L. Brown Insurance Agency.
Harvey earned a law degree (J.D.) from Nova Southeastern University and has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2002. He is a former president and board member of the Delray Beach Public Library. He is also a former president of the board of the Delray Beach Playhouse. He has served as president of the Delray Beach Kiwanis and is a member of Delray Beach Rotary Club. He is the owner and president of the Harvey L. Brown Insurance Agency.
Charlene was introduced to Unity as a child through a television segment called “The Word” and later through the Daily Word and other Unity publications. She first began attending Unity of Delray Beach in 1988 and became a member in 1990. She relocated to Washington D.C. in 1995 and continued her participation at Unity of Fairfax in Fairfax, Virginia. She returned to live in South Florida in 2003 and considers Unity of Delray Beach to be her spiritual home. She has served as an usher/greeter, platform speaker and occasional guest speaker. She currently leads the weekly Prosperity Coffee. She has been a long-time meditation and yoga teacher and has led popular meditation workshops and women’s retreats at the church. Charlene has a law degree (J.D.) from the University of Kansas and has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1990. She has held various positions in the technology industry for the last 24 years and currently is commercial counsel for a large technology company.
LEA ANNE DeRIGNE
Dr. Lea Anne DeRigne has been a member of Unity of Delray Beach Church since 2010, serving as usher and then head usher of the 9:25 a.m. service for 5 years. Her husband, Rob Liebschutz, was also an usher. Their two children, daughter Ruby, and son Hobbes are students in the Sunday School. Lea Anne is committed to Unity principles and the church, believing Unity of Delray Beach is a vital part of our community. She has served in leadership roles on many City of Delray Beach committees, is active in her neighborhood, and has led search committees at Florida Atlantic University.
She earned her Ph.D. and master’s degrees (1999) from Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Her BS in psychology is from Missouri State. She is an associate professor at Florida Atlantic University. She was a lobbyist and policy analyst in Washington, DC and the Missouri state capitol for 5 years. An avid reader, she supports social equality and loves to travel.
Terry Horowitz first came to Unity of Delray Beach in 1990 and immediately knew he was home. Within the first year he made a commitment and became a member of the church and began a journey many of us are familiar with. He served in many areas of the church, but he was led to one area in particular and that was with the Youth of Unity. He served the Y.O.U. for about 14 years and not just with our church, but for the regional and international Y.O.U. as well. In 1999 he was awarded the Distinguished Youth Service Award for his service to the youth. He has also served the Church as a prior Board member for 4 years. He has attended numerous classes as well as retreats with Unity Church. Terry has spent a lot of his time in the financial industry but for the past 10 years is a self-employed business owner. He lives in Coral Springs and enjoys doing a variety of activities, most of them outdoors.
Deborah Ulrich began attending Unity of Delray in 2003 and soon became a member. A Florida native, she moved to Delray from Miami Springs. She was introduced to Unity at Unity Center of Miami in the late 1980s. She currently serves on the Greeters team and was a part of the Staying in Touch team at our church and has taken the 4T class and many other workshops held at Unity. Deborah has also attended Prosperity Breakfast and Prosperity Lunch regularly since joining the congregation.
Deborah worked for Eastern Air Lines and EDS, progressing to senior systems analyst and project manager before accepting an early retirement offer in 1999. From 2009 to 2013 she served as office manager for the homeowners’ association in her community, and now serves on the board there as well as on their entertainment and newsletter committees.
Jill has been a member of Unity of Delray Beach for many years. She knew that she had found her spiritual home upon her first visit to the church when she walked through the bookstore and identified so many books already in her personal library. She realized that she had found 'her people'. Jill has found various ways to serve and engage with the congregation through volunteering as an Usher and then for many years as the Bookstore Manager.
Jill has had an interesting life filled with worldwide travel as she has circumnavigated the world from East to West and West to East throughout her career. She lived in England for 20 years and still returns to England on a regular basis. Jill remains very active in her current career as a Director of Sales within the Office Products Industry. She is an animal lover and an avid gardener in her home life.
Youth Education Director
Laurie has grown up in Unity. At 15, she visited her first Unity church- in Naples and became a member of Youth of Unity there, later attending rallies and conferences. She remembers Unity Village and the magic of “knowing you’re in your right place.” She felt, for the first time, at one with the power and presence of God.
Laurie became a member of Unity of Delray Beach in 1985, and during her first visit to the church, she volunteered to be a Sunday school teacher!
“When I came to Unity of Delray Beach, I felt like I’d come home. At that time I wanted so much to serve God and give back all that had been given to me! Ever since I was a small girl, I’d wanted to be a teacher… a teacher of Truth.”
Laurie believes we teach what we need to learn, and she has learned so much from the children.
Laurie and her husband Jeff have two sons, Ben and John, both Unity School graduates.
Chief Financial Officer
Paul is from Charleston, West Virginia. He earned a Master of Science in Finance degree from Florida International University and two undergraduate degrees in Economics and Business Administration from West Virginia State University. Prior to joining Unity in November 2013, Paul spent most of his career in public accounting. He brings years of auditing and taxation experience, with an advanced focus on not-for-profit organizations.
D. SHAWN BERRY
Co-founder, artistic director and lead conductor for the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, under Shawn’s supervision the organization has grown to 6 choirs and over 350 singers ages 7-18. The choir has performed with the Palm Beach Opera, Palm Beach Pops, Dave Koz, the Three Tenors as well as toured nationally and internationally.
After earning his BA and MA in music education from Marshall University, Shawn worked in public schools for 24 years in grades K-12 vocal and instrumental music.
Shawn’s choruses have performed at several national choral directors’ conventions. He has conducted honor and all-county choirs in Florida, West Virginia and North Carolina. He served as program director at the Center for Creative Education, and Manager of Arts and Cultural Education for the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. He is an active composer/arranger and arranger with his pieces at several publishing houses.
Shawn was pianist for the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches for 25 years before joining the staff at Unity of Delray Beach.
In addition to her staff responsibilities, Dymin also facilitates the Thursday Prosperity Lunch class. Born in Belize, Central America, Dymin has been a Unity Truth Student for more than 15 years and is presently studying to become a Licensed Unity Teacher.
She is a professional singer/songwriter and has produced 6 CDs and is currently in the studio recording. She performs nationally as well as near home in Boynton Beach. One of Dymin’ s favorite places to give back is in assisted living homes, where she performs regularly, bringing her island-flavored music to the residents to brighten their day and get them moving.
Dymin has 2 sons, Jayson and Sammy, and 2 grandsons, Ethan and Aiden, who are her pride and joy.
She states: “I love life and I am prosperous beyond my wildest dreams! Here at Unity I have learned to let go and let God and to live in the present moment. It’s all good!”
Kathleen Cronin was born in the “Big Apple” and relocated to Florida in 1978. Her spiritual journey began in NYC early in life and expanded as events and experiences led her closer and closer to God for strength, comfort, guidance and wisdom. This journey took a quantum leap on arriving in Florida when further learning and understanding about God’s Plan for her life took place.
Kathleen experienced a very special ‘moment in time’ in 1970 when she discovered a copy of Unity’s Daily Word in a stack of National Geographic magazines a Unity friend gave her. The uplifting Daily Word messages each seemed to be especially for her…of course!
Her journey here followed a long winding road and many different hats worn during her business career ⧿Real Estate, Facilitating ‘Freedom from Smoking’ Programs sponsored by the American Lung Association, Staff at Lappin Communications including start-up of the Palm Beach Pops Orchestra, Event Planning, and now, front desk office administrative duties here at our church.
Herlinda has three daughters, Monica, Cynthia, and Melissa, as well as three grandsons and three granddaughters. She started coming to Unity of Delray Beach in October of 1989, and became a member in 1990.
She has been involved with the Sunday School for 16 years. She spent one year on the original prayer team and loves attending the Prosperity Coffee Thursday mornings. She has been in the dog grooming business for 13 years. Since 1997 she has been a Reiki Master. She loves serving all of God’s children.
Julie has been attending Unity of Delray Beach since 2014 and a member since 2015. She discovered the Church while her youngest child, Benny, was attending preschool at Unity School. Books have been one of her greatest sources of comfort and guidance on her spiritual journey, so she felt at home the minute she walked into the Church and first discovered the Unity Bookstore. She is grateful for being introduced to the Unity principles, which have changed her life, and feels blessed to have the position as Bookstore Manager.
A Florida native, Julie graduated from Duke University in 2003 and then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked in Television Production and Business Affairs for a decade before her husband Alex's career brought her back home to Florida. Now a stay-at-home mom to their two young children, Benny and Scottie, Julie is an active member of the Duke Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee and an avid reader and lover of books. .
Public Relations Director,
Newsletter and eBlast Editor
Brenda felt deeply blessed to find Unity in 1993 and has served as its public relations director and newsletter editor for many years. She co-founded and organized the Blessing of the Animals event here in the late 1990s. She was an original member of the legendary Thursday morning 7 a.m. Prosperity Coffee.
Brenda hosted “Entertaining Your Spirit” film nights, screening more than 70 spirit-based movies, with popcorn and discussions, monthly at the church. For three summers she produced Old Time Rock ‘n Roll Concerts with professional entertainers (including several church members) for high-spirited events dancing and listening to 50s-80s tunes.
An avid Toastmaster, she won a “Toastmaster of the Year” award from her club, Bill Gove Golden Gavel, which is dedicated to strengthening public speaking skills. A former actress and improviser, she is a past board and founding member of Bob Carter’s Actor’s Workshop and Repertory Co. in W. Palm Beach.
Brenda and her writer/genealogist husband Dick have one married daughter, Kelly, an editor in Seattle.

Spiritual Counselor, Chaplain Director
Madaline Lawrence has been a Licensed Unity Teacher since 1996. Coming from a Jewish background, she never dreamed she’d be a Unity teacher, teaching the words and examples of Jesus. However, she realizes it is not that astonishing considering that since childhood she always had a yearning to bridge the gap between Judaism and Christianity. One of her favorite statements is, "Moses gave us the 10 Commandments and Jesus showed us how to live them!"
She was drawn to Unity because of its diversity, with members from all walks of life, religions, and races. Madaline’s passions are to help people awaken to their oneness with each other and God, and to understand that we are all created in the image and likeness of God and therefore are all equal.
Her desire is to see all of God’s children living together in peace and harmony, the way she believes God intended us to live. Madaline shares her passions in classes, workshops and as a guest speaker on Wednesday evening services.

Unity SE Region Youth & Family Ministry
Reverend Ytonna has been a Unity Truth student for over 25 years. Since December of 2010, she has served Ministers, Youth Leaders, children and Uniteens as Youth and Family Ministry and Uniteen Consultant for the Southeast Region. Ytonna is an ordained Unity minister. She graduated from the Unity Urban Ministerial School.
Her background is in strategic planning & professional development, non-profit management and international operations. She holds a certification in Leadership in Non-Profit Management from the University of Chicago and bachelor’s degrees in psychology from the University of Central Florida and special studies from the University of Alabama. She earned various other certifications including Certified Executive.
Lynn is a Michigan native and attended Wayne County Community College. She was a bookkeeper and later had a 25-year career with a builder and developer, serving as their controller. She attended Renaissance Unity in Warren, Michigan where, after her daughter made her transition, was the Church Nursery volunteer for the “Littlest Angels,” children from a few months to 1 year old. Lynn has been caring for babies and toddlers in our church nursery for several years.
Director of Maintenance
Andre Spedaliere is originally from New Jersey and has been in Florida since 2012. A retired general contractor, he has worked at Unity of Delray Beach Church since 2015. Andre has a degree in Criminal Justice from Jersey City State College. He lives in Boynton Beach with his significant other and their two dogs. Andre is a sports enthusiast and loves the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. His motto is life is “Keep It Simple”.
Chief Information Officer
Doug is originally from Boston, MA and has been a south Florida resident since 1980. He has worked with Unity Church since 1998 helping with the Church website, technology and audiovisual needs. Doug is also the Director of Technology at Unity School.
